'Y2K Central Headquarters' to be at city police station

December 14, 1999

On New Year's Eve a "Y2K Central Headquarters" will be set up at Hagerstown's police station, and a Y2K hotline already installed at the police station will be activated, according to city plans.

With the year 2000 less than three weeks away, Hagerstown's Mayor and City Council received their final update on the city's preparedness on Tuesday.

City Light Department Manager Terry Weaver, who is chairman of the city's Y2K Oversight Committee, said no problems are expected but contingency plans have been developed and extra city staff will work on New Year's Eve.

The city's overtime costs for New Year's Eve is estimated at $14,500.
