Catherine A. Watson

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Catherine A. Gossert Watson, 75, of 13377 Pennersville Road, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

Born Sept. 4, 1924, in Blue Ridge Summit, she was the daughter of the late Orland E. and Mary V. Eyler Gossert.

She had worked as a nurse's aide at Waynesboro Hospital in Waynesboro, Pa.

She was a member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ray W. Watson; four daughters, Cinda R. Geerling of LaGange, Ga., Mary A. Brown and Mellissa S. Watson, both of Blue Ridge Summit and Kathy E. Brenneman of Boonsboro; four sons, Harry J. Watson of Waynesboro, Clair W. Watson, Randolph W. Watson and Michael L. Watson, all of Blue Ridge Summit; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Denna K. Fisher; a granddaughter, Deborah A. Richards; two sisters; and a brother.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. Eugene M. Cline will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery in Cascade, Md.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mabel C. Holmes

WILLIAMSPORT - Mabel Christine Holmes, 80, a resident of Homewood and formerly of Clearview Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Homewood.

Born Jan. 9, 1919, in Framingham, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Bruce McKeen and Christine Cameron Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Leo Holmes, in 1984.

She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the circle and prayer group.

She is survived by a daughter, Catherine A. Freeland of Havre de Grace, Md.; two sons, Millard B. Holmes of Ellicott City, Md. and Mark C. Holmes of Williamsport; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Smith and Murdock Smith.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 11833 Greenhill Drive in Hagerstown. The Rev. George W. Evans will officiate.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd. in Elkridge, Md.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Fund, 11833 Greenhill Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21742; American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742; or American Heart Association, 322-324 E. Antietam St., Suite 306B, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

William F. Derryberry

RIDGELEY, W.Va. - William Francis Derryberry, 54, of Ridgley, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney, W.Va.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave. in Cumberland, Md. The Rev. Wayne R. Turner will officiate.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

At his request, his body will be cremated.

Donald L. Largent

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Donald L. Largent, 56, of Hedgesville, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born April 20, 1943, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of Zelda Keller Largent Fisher of Winchester and the late Lohring Largent.

He was a driver for Pattersons Drug Store; and retired from Abex Friction Products in Winchester.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW; Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of the Moose; and Eagles Club of Winchester.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Wanda Conner Condit Largent; two daughters, Kim Byram of Middletown, Va. and Kelly Puffinberger of Winchester; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Condit of Hedgesville; a stepson, Brian Condit of Hedgesville; a sister, Nancy Tisinger of Winchester; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Paul Fisher.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. Pastor Jack Rudy will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Samuel P. Forbes

SMITHSBURG - Samuel Paul Forbes, 87, of 21034 Jefferson Blvd., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 12, 1912, in Scotland, Pa., he was the son of the late Merle Charles and Mary Catherine Winger Forbes.

He was a member of Eagles of Waynesboro, Pa.; and Beaver Creek Country Club.
