Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"Maybe you self righteous people who want to ban cigarettes should look at yourselves and all the alcohol you and your young people consume. Are you costly to us? You bet! The state police should stake out the North End and Fountain Head."

"I am wondering when local police agencies will start enforcing laws against nailing signs to telephone poles. It is getting worse around the county. It may not be an important matter, but it makes the area look cheap and dirty."

"Just a special thanks to Linda and Delores for making many people very happy by opening up Jeanne's Two in Williamsport. We wish you a lot of luck."

"I wonder how much longer those who are dedicated to being true believers to their faith and trust in the Bible, tell their children that what is left under the Christmas tree, was left there by Santa Claus?"

"I am calling in response to the person about the Christmas Carols on the radio. If they tune into 99.9 WFRE in Frederick, they will hear country and Christmas."

"I would like to know if there is a dental school or clinic in the Hagerstown area?"

"I was reading about the person who is an extremely loyal cat lover. I wonder if she could give some of that love to some of the people who need the love and attention. For example in nursing homes where some of the residents get no one to talk to. They are always looking for volunteers to come in and try to keep some of the residents happy by reading to them, they can write letters or just talk to them. So someone with all that love to give to an animals, should be able to give some of that love to a person."

"I was wondering why the kids who participate in sports at Boonsboro, cannot use the school facilities? All other schools let them use the facilities for their sports. Does this mean that they are second class citizens at Boonsboro?"

"Why don't the cemeteries enforce their rules for the amount and kind of floral tributes and ornaments allowed? Some graves look like a landfill. It isn't fair to the other lot owners who would like to maintain a neat and attractive appearance."

"I really miss the car repair shop that used to be located in the Longmeadow Shopping Center. It was easy and convenient to be able to have my car serviced while I did my shopping."

"To all the Avon representatives, why doesn't the Big Pool area have a house-to-house representative? I would like to see one once in a while."

"I agree with the person who said you shouldn't buy products from the Japanese. I have relatives killed in wars going back through the years. Killed in the war against the Germans, Mexicans, Italians, England and the Middle East. You should go far back in your history and find as many people to hate as possible. Do you see what I mean? You should be fair and make your own products. This is one world, you cannot go around hating parts of it. Get on with life, I bet that person has products in their home right now made in Japan. Just like everybody else. Japan is not the same as it was in the 30s and 40s. It is a totally different country now. Our own lands have done very bad things, so why we are at it, just not buy any products because they are all made somewhere."

"It is a shame when the Board of Education calendar does not honor Veterans Day. No wonder you have classes refusing to stand up and say the pledge to the flag. They are not taught to understand how important our veterans are today."

"It is so refreshing to read what is happening locally. Thanks for the change in the paper."

"The way things are shaping up, it looks to me that we are going to get a stadium shoved down our throats whether we want it or not."

"Please leave the obituaries on the front of the paper because I have bad eyes and I can see it better."

"The new format of the paper is fine. I suppose that someone wants the stadium issue off the back burner and on the front page. Fair enough, go ahead and build it. But can we require the funds to give discounts to county residents? Or is that unconstitutional?"

"KitCat & Critter Animal Rescue is looking for someone to donate a shed, trailer, small barn or other building in good condition that could be moved easily using a roll back trailer for us to use for an animal shelter. We are also looking for someone to donate any type of fencing, large kennels or materials that could be used to build kennels. You can call 301-416-2323 or write to PO Box 5, Rohrersville, Md. 21779-0005. You can also E-mail us at kitcatxo@aol.com. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone in the community that has supported our organization."

"Does anyone have a fish aquarium with a filter on that would like to have some tropical guppy fish? Call mail call and lave your phone number and I will get in touch with you."
