Health officer to step down

December 07, 1999

Washington County Health Officer Robert L. Parker said Tuesday he will step down from that position in September.

Parker, 65, said he is leaving to spend more time with his family and do more work as a teacher. He said he is at an age when thoughts of retirement grow more constant.

Parker said he will have been with the county for six years by the time he leaves.

"It has been good," Parker said.

Work to find a replacement is under way, he said.

Parker said he hopes a replacement will be hired by September so he can help train his successor.
