Emergency officials respond to fight at prison

November 30, 1999

Emergency officials responded to a report of a fight on Thursday night at the Maryland Correctional Institution south of Hagerstown. Washington County Hospital spokeswoman Maureen Theriault said about 10:45 p.m. that the hospital was treating one patient from MCI. She didn't know if the patient was an inmate or an employee or the nature of the injuries. Theriault said the hospital didn't know how many other patients it would get, but it was told that about 30 "unsecured" inmates were to be checked at the prison to see if they needed to go to the hospital.
