Hospital programs



Washington County Hospital offers the following programs:

  • Congestive heart failure ? Washington County Hospital offers a program for individuals with newly diagnosed heart failure or those needing help in managing their illness. Management classes and a telephone-monitoring program are available. Call the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at 301-790-8940 for information.

  • Diabetes ? Washington County Hospital offers an educational program for individuals affected by diabetes at Robinwood Medical Center, Suite 108. A new group begins each month. Call 301-714-4041 for a schedule. Registration is required.

  • Family Birthing Center tours ? Washington County Hospital's Family Birthing Center offers 20-minute tours Sundays at 4:30 p.m. Meet at the Family Birthing Center waiting room. Families can learn about programs designed to meet prenatal, labor and delivery, and postnatal care needs. No reqistration is required.

  • Massage therapy ? Certified massage therapy offered at Total Rehab Care. Types of massage available include cranial, deep tissue, infant musical energy, prenatal, sacral, Swedish and trigger point. Call 301-714-4025.

  • Osteoporosis program ? A six-week program with a physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist and registered dietitian. This program addresses exercise instruction, body mechanics, posture, balance, fall prevention, nutrition, and education about osteoporosis. Referral from a physician and a T-score indicating osteoporosis is required for entrance into the program. Call Total Rehab Care at 301-714-4025.

  • Weight loss program ? This is a medically managed weight loss program at Robinwood Endocrinology. For information or to sign up for an information session, call 301-714-4041.

  • Blood pressure clinics ? Screenings for local residents offered by Home Health staff at the following locations: Alexander House, Hagerstown, second Tuesday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m.; Williamsport Senior Citizens Center, second Thursday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; Hancock Senior Citizens Center, second Monday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m.; Maugansville Senior Citizens Center, fourth Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon.   • Vascular screenings ? These free screenings are for those 50 and older for peripheral arterial disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and stroke. Screenings are available by appointment only. Call 301-790-8946. The next screening date is Monday, July 3. Call 301-790-8946 for information.

  • Health screening clinics ? Life Line Screenings provide three screenings which can detect stroke, peripheral arterial diseases and abdominal aortic aneurysm. Call 1-800-779-6353 to schedule an appointment.

  • Breast Cancer Clinics ? Washington County Hospital offers free breast health education, clinical exams, and transportation for women of all ages. Mammograms, if needed, will be scheduled. The clinics are funded by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Next clinics offered from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Williamsport Family Practice; and noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at Walnut Street Family Practice.
