State test scores improve in Washington County

November 30, 1999

Washington County Public Schools continued to show improvement on state tests, according to results released Tuesday. The system's performance on Maryland School Assessments, which are administered to elementary-school and middle-school students in the spring, slipped in only two categories, as fourth-grade and eighth-grade results on reading tests each fell by less than 1 percent since last year. Overall, about 80 percent of Washington County students in grades 3 through 8 met state standards. See Wednesday's Herald-Mail newspapers for the full story.
