HAGERSTOWN ? A bench warrant has been issued for the driver of a vehicle involved in a June 9 car crash that killed a pregnant Funkstown woman.
Kelsy Lynn Thomas, 20, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after the crash and was pronounced dead a few days later. Thomas was four months pregnant at the time of her death, and the baby did not survive.
A jury indicted Javaughn Allen Young, 21, on a charge of negligent homicide in connection with the crash. Young was scheduled for a first appearance Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court but was not present.
The judge issued a warrant for Young's arrest, Assistant State's Attorney Viki Pauler said Thursday afternoon.
Thomas was a passenger in a 1995 Civic that Young was driving when the vehicle struck an unoccupied parked car at a high rate of speed on Main Street near Mousetown Road in Boonsboro, according to police reports.
