Pedestrian hurt in hit-and-run crash

MARLOWE, W.Va. ? A pedestrian struck in a Berkeley County hit-and-run accident Monday night was in "guarded" condition at Washington County Hospital's emergency department, a hospital spokeswoman said at 11 p.m.

The man, John Hautle, was struck by a vehicle at about 10 p.m. near Williamsport Pike (U.S. 11) and Paradise Valley Road, Berkeley County Sheriff's Department Deputy Richard Palmer said.

Palmer did not have any additional information about the accident and was waiting until Hautle was out of the emergency room to interview him, he said.
