United Way of Washington County names interim executive director

November 30, 1999|By JOSHUA BOWMAN

The United Way of Washington County has hired Rodney Shoop to serve as the group's interim executive director until a permanent director can be found.

Shoop will start work in the position Thursday.

Shoop worked as Washington County Administrator for 12 years before being replaced last year by Gregory B. Murray.

United Way hired Dan Greenwald as its executive director after Dale Bannon left at the end of June to work for Washington County Public Schools. Greenwald resigned after less than two months.

This is the heart of the annual fundraising season for United Way, which funnels money to local charities.

Its fundraising season kicked off with a goal of $1.9 million in August and will last through the end of the year.
