FREDERICK, MD. ? A Frederick County Public Schools bus driver was charged with malicious destruction of property after he drove a school bus into the side of a pickup truck driven by his father-in-law Thursday, according to a Maryland State Police press release.
No students were on the bus at the time of the collision, police said.
Dale Allan Tressler, 38, of the 11000 block of Liberty Road in Frederick, still was employed by the FCPS transportation department, but is on administrative leave, a transportation spokeswoman said Friday afternoon.
Troopers responded to the 11000 block of Liberty Road in Frederick on Thursday about 3:30 p.m.
An investigating trooper determined that Tressler intentionally drove a school bus into the side of a 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by his father-in-law, troopers said.
Tressler drove into the pickup truck to prevent his father-in-law, Francis W. Bush Jr., from leaving the property, troopers said.
