MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg man was stabbed repeatedly Saturday morning during an altercation, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.

Orlando Romero Robledo Alonzo, 18, was taken by private automobile to City Hospital and then transferred to Inova Fairfax Hospital. He was in guarded condition Saturday night, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Alonzo was inside Building 314 of the Berkeley Garden Apartments on U.S. 11 with several other people, Lt. Kenny Lemaster said.

Lemaster said Alonzo got into an altercation with another man and was stabbed multiple times in the back.

Officials at City Hospital contacted police at about 12:30 a.m. to report a man with stab wounds had entered the hospital.

Deputy Dennis Messick was sent to investigate.

Lemaster said authorities do not know what prompted the attack.

"Apparently, they were all just in the apartment and got to squabbling," he said.

Lemaster said deputies have a suspect.

"We're still doing the interviews, trying to identify the persons involved," he said. "We have aliases, or names, but we don't have the true identity."

No arrests have been made, Lemaster said.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Department at 304-267-7000 or Crime Solvers at 304-267-4999.
