Man's condition upgraded to serious

WILLIAMSPORT - A Williamsport man was listed in serious condition at the Washington County Hospital Friday evening, a day after being hurt when a mobile home he was helping move fell on him and two other family members.

The condition of the man, Carl Lester Eby, 51,was upgraded from critical Friday morning, a spokesman said.

His son, Arvin Laray Eby, 16, of 14256 Clearspring Road, Williamsport, was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital following the 11:30 a.m. accident, rescuers said.

Carl Eby, Arvin Eby and Duane Daniel Strite, 26, of 9248 Downsville Pike, Williamsport, were attempting to set a mobile home on blocks when the accident occurred, said Diane Strite, Duane Strite's wife and Carl Eby's daughter.

She said her father, husband and brother were placing the mobile home on a section of her father's dairy farm for another brother to live in. The pre-owned mobile home fell as the three were attempting to place it on blocks, crushing Arvin Eby beneath it and partially trapping the other men.

Strite's leg was broken in the accident, Diane Strite said.
