Pa. school district gets grant

November 05, 1999

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - State Rep. Jeff Coy announced Friday that the Chambersburg Area School District has received a $79,198 grant under the state's Safe Schools Act.

The Safe Schools grants can be used for conflict resolution and peer help programs, violence prevention curricula, school safety planning, risk assessments, student codes of conduct and use of school security personnel.

Earlier this year, Coy, D-89, voted for Act 36, the legislation that created the Safe Schools initiative. He then voted for the fiscal year 2000 budget, which included $22 million in funding for the plan.
