John and Debbie Carty of Hagerstown announce the engagement of their daughter, Jacquelyn S. Carty, to John W. Davidson III, son of John W. Davidson of Clear Spring and Jan Davidson of Williamsport.

Ms. Carty is a 1996 graduate of Williamsport High School. She is an in-home banking representative and receptionist at Farmers & Merchants Bank and Trust in Hagerstown.

Mr. Davidson is a 1993 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1998 graduate of Shepherd College with a bachelor's degree in biology. He is a research assistant at Freshwater Institute in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

An Oct. 7 wedding is planned.




Dr. and Mrs. Dan McDougal of Williamsport wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Capt. Amy Elizabeth, to Maj. Stephen Hutchens, son of Lee and Genny Hutchens of Feasterville, Pa.

Capt. McDougal attended Friends School of Baltimore and graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in Traverse City, Mich. She is a 1994 graduate of Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University. She received a doctor of jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University in 1997. She serves as a judge advocate general in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.

Maj. Hutchens is a graduate of Frankford High School and West Chester University. He serves in the Air Force as commander of Security Forces for the First Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base.

A December wedding is planned.




The Rev. Mike and Kathleen Kianetski of Hagerstown wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kerry Anne, to Randall Mark Crist Jr., son of Randall Crist Sr. of Sharpsburg and Vickie Griffith of Boonsboro.

Ms. Kianetski is a 1994 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and a 1996 graduate of Hagerstown Business College. She is employed as a medical assistant for Rumbarger and Schiro in Hagerstown.

Mr. Crist is a 1994 graduate of Boonsboro High School and a 1997 graduate of Hagerstown Community College. He is pursuing a degree in sports fitness at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.Va., and will graduate in May. He is a certified personal trainer.

A June 2001 wedding is planned.




Michelle Lee Walling and David Kelly Mathias wish to announce their engagement.

Miss Walling is the daughter of Donald Wayne Walling and Joyce Elaine Walling-Forsythe, both of Hagerstown. She is a 1988 graduate of Boonsboro High School and attended Hagerstown Business College. She is employed as a management specialist for the Food and Drug Administration in Rockville, Md.

Mr. Mathias is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alba Lynn Mathias of Smithsburg. He is a 1987 graduate of Smithsburg High School and attended James Madison and Seton Hall universities. He is employed as store manager for Sprint PCS/Shentel in Hagerstown.

He also is co-owner of Chesapeake Consulting Group and is a Microsoft certified systems engineer.

A May 20 wedding is planned.




Stephen C. and Amelia M. Katz of East Syracuse, N.Y., announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa Anne Katz, to Timothy Vieni Twiss, son of Toni Crawford of Fayetteville, Pa., and Allen H. Twiss of Frederick, Md.

Miss Katz is a graduate of Oswego State University and has a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University. She is employed as an English teacher and soccer coach with Baltimore City Board of Education.

Mr. Twiss is a 1984 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and a graduate of Towson State University. He is employed as a financial planner with American Express.

An April wedding is planned.




Rossana Cardinale and William A. Larrick announce their engagement.

Miss Cardinale is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Cardinale of Hagerstown. She is a graduate of South Hagerstown High School, Hagerstown Community College, University of Maryland at College Park and Hood College. She is employed by Washington County Board of Education as a history teacher at Washington County Technical High School.

Mr. Larrick is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Larrick of Hagerstown. He is a graduate of Williamsport High School, Hagerstown Community College and Frostburg State University. He is employed by Washington County Board of Education as a science teacher at Western Heights Middle School.

A July 22 wedding is planned.
