SHARPSBURG- The Sharpsburg Town Council on Monday night voted unanimously to support the push to reopen a Keedysville health clinic.
Mayor George Kesler said he was joining the mayors of Boonsboro and Keedysville in asking council members to show support for the revival of the Washington County Health Department-sponsored clinic that until recently operated in the Little Antietam Community Center.
The clinic, which charged clients according to their incomes, apparently closed in late August, Kesler said.
A letter from Health Department officials to state Del. Christopher Shank, R-Washington, stated that there were not enough clients to merit keeping the clinic open, Kesler said.
The Sharpsburg mayor said he believes the clinic was not well publicized, and would like the health center to be reopened and interested parties given one year to promote it.
