October 28, 1999|By SCOTT BUTKI

After eight years as executive director of the United Way of Washington County, Kathleen Hall is stepping down in January.

Hall will become course administrator for the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, a national organization headquartered in Hagerstown.

She will assist with a new search committee established to find her replacement, she said.

The committee will be co-chaired by Richard Gagliardi, United Way board president, and Doug Wright Jr., vice president of administration.

They hope to find a replacement by the time Hall starts her new job Jan. 20, Gagliardi said.

While he is happy she will be pleased with her new job it will be a loss for the United Way, he said.

"She is terrific. She is one of the nicest persons I have ever worked with. She gets the job done," he said.

"My years with United Way have been extremely positive, exciting and most rewarding," Hall said. "I had an incredible experience here," she said.

But everyone must strive to meet their personal goals and she has always wanted to do work in the education and home management fields, she said.

"As I begin this new career path, I very much look forward to joining with such an exemplary organization as ASCCP, to expanding my knowledge with management health care, and educational arenas and to helping carry out the organization's mission, to which I am truly committed."

ASCCP Executive Director Kathy Poole said, "ASCCP, organized in 1964, is a nationally established nonprofit organization of health care professionals committed to improving health care professionals committed to improving health through study, prevention, diagnosis and management of lower genital tract disorders."

Hall's new job will include management and administrative work.
