National Merit semifinalists in the Eastern Panhandle

Public schools in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle are home to 10 semifinalists for a National Merit Scholarship, according to schools officials.

They are:

* Eli Perrone, 16, of Bunker Hill. He is the son of Albert and Dina Perrone and attends Musselman High School.

* Danielle Vreeland, 16, of Bunker Hill. She is the daughter of Jacob and Natalie Vreeland and attends Musselman High School.

* Tara McCain, 17, of Inwood. She is the daughter of Charlotte Norris, the stepdaughter of William Norris and attends Musselman High School.

* Keith Gerver, 17, of Martinsburg. He is the son of C. Michael and Gloria Gerver and attends Martinsburg High School.

* Rebecca Denny, 17, of Martinsburg. She is the daughter of David and Dorothy Denny and attends Martinsburg High School.

* Emily Erin Weisse, 17, of Falling Waters. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Margery Weisse and attends Hedgesville High School.

* Teresa Stritch, 17, of Bedington. She is the daughter of Lawrence and Penelope Stritch. Teresa Stritch is a dual student at Hedgesville High School and Shepherd College.

* Tim T. Smith, 17, of Charles Town. He is the son of Robin and Mary Lou Smith and attends Jefferson High School.

* Anthony Scott Mercer, 17, of Tuscawilla. He is the son of Jeffrie and Joyce Mercer and attends Jefferson High School.

* Katherine L. Poole, 17, of Tuscawilla Hills. She is the daughter of Joe and Beth Poole and attends Jefferson High School.
