Handmade quilt raffle

The 20th Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival quilt features a large central patched apple. Comprised of three-inch pieced squares, the 90-by-90-inch quilt has deep pinks to reds to shades of burgundy. This creates a shaded effect, like light shining on the surface of an apple. The border is a chain of apples in reds, golds and greens representing the many apple varieties grown in the Eastern Panhandle.

This is the third year that local artisan Kimberly Hardee was selected to design and make the quilt. The drawing will take place Sunday, Oct. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at West Virginia Air National Guard Base, along with the drawing for the 1982 quilt. Tickets for each quilt are $1 and may be purchased at Martin's on Foxcroft Avenue in Martinsburg or from any board member.
