Army Pvt. Robert J. Budnicki Jr., son of Kathleen M. Kane of Gilbert, Ariz., and Robert J. Budnicki of Hagerstown, has been assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C.
Tammy L. Stewart, daughter of George W. McFerren of Chambersburg, Pa., has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of chief master sergeant.
In addition, Stewart was decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal, which is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who distinguish themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement or service to the United States.
Stewart was recently reassigned to McGuire Air Force Base, Trenton, N.J. She received an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force in 1996.
Marine Pvt. Derek T. Mills, a 1998 graduate of Middletown High School, Middletown, Md., recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
Army National Guard Pvt. Harold R. McCommon, son of Harold and Sussie McCommon of Falling Waters, W.Va., has arrived at Fort Knox, Ky., to complete basic combat training. McCommon is a 1997 graduate of Hedgesville High School, Hedgesville, W.Va.
Lauren A. Bolte, daughter of Charles C. and Mary T. Bolte of Chambersburg, Pa., recently completed the cadet basic training program at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. After completing the basic training program, the cadet is accepted into the U.S. Corps of Cadets at the academy. Consequently, upon graduating from the academy, the cadet receives a bachelor's degree and is commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.
Bolte is a 1999 graduate of Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, Pa.
Army 2nd Lt. Kevin G. Bedell, son of John H. and Diane G. Bedell of South Dayton, N.Y., has arrived for duty at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C., and is assigned to the 330th Transportation Battalion.
His wife, Laura, is the daughter of Carl D. and Susanne E. Wenger of Waynesboro, Pa.
Bedell is a 1994 graduate of Pine Valley Central High School, South Dayton and a 1998 graduate of Houghton College, N.Y.
Marine Pfc. Aaron M. Kanelopoulos, son of Ann Kauffman of Thurmont, Md., recently was promoted to his present rank while serving with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Twentynine Palms, Calif. He joined the Marine Corps in 1998.
