The Wards

James and Betty Ward of Funkstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise weekend gathering at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa in Farmington, Pa.

The celebration was hosted by their children and spouses, Scott and Sherry (Ward) Gilbert of Washington, D.C., Jim and Debbie Ward of Hagerstown, Greg Ward and Mia Parsons of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and their five grandchildren.

The Wards were married Sept. 17, 1949, in Virginia, and moved to Hagerstown in 1951.

Mrs. Ward is a homemaker. Mr. Ward is a retiree of the State of Maryland.

The Gordons

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gordon of Clear Spring celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party at Wilson Ruritan Club hosted by their daughter, Linda Troig, and Mr. Gordon's sister, Fannie Rouzer.

The event was attended by family and friends.

The Gordons were married Aug. 27, 1949, in Hagerstown.

The Suffecools

Rosalyn and William "Bill" Suffecool of Boonsboro were honored at a surprise 40th wedding anniversary party Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Hagerstown. The party was hosted by their children, Sheila Jones of Hagerstown and Kevin Suffecool of Elkridge, Md., and attended by friends and relatives.

Highlights of the celebration included a multimedia presentation of the Suffecools' life together and introduction of members of their wedding party.

William Robert Suffecool and Rosalyn Mae Nalley were married Sept. 19, 1959, by the Rev. Vernon Miles at Calvary Temple in Williamsport.
