Portion of HotSpots grant application OK'd
Hagerstown's Mayor and City Council Tuesday informally approved a portion of a grant application, which will request funding for two new city police officers.
The request is part of a revised application for the Maryland HotSpot Communities Initiative grant.
Cut from a previous draft application, which the council discussed last week, were requests for two more police officers, a drug dog and surveillance equipment.
Hagerstown Police Lt. Margaret Kline, who is involved in putting together the grant application, said state officials told her the grant award would be for no more than $200,000, which prompted elimination of several funding requests.
