Child drowns in pool

FREDERICK, Md. - A Manassas, Va. child drowned after falling into an in-ground swimming pool while attending a family reunion in Frederick County Sunday morning, said Frederick County Sheriff's deputies.

Emily Lauren Tabor, who would have been 2 years old next month was pronounced dead at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, deputies said.

Deputies were called to the 13000 block of Graceham Road for a report of a child drowning at 8:46 a.m.

Family members pulled the girl from the swimming pool and attempted to revive her before rescuers arrived.

Deputies said the victim's family was attending a reunion at the home of her grandparents where the accident occurred.

Tabor, apparently was walking from the main house to a pool house where the family was gathering for breakfast when she fell in the pool.

Deputies estimate she was in the pool for up to 10 minutes before being discovered.

Following the accident, members of the Graceham Southern Baptist Church responded to the scene to comfort the family.


Deputies are continuing their investigation of the incident.
