The ninth annual walk-a-thon for the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Washington County at Antietam National Battlefield Saturday raised $2,500, said Connie Pauley, Alliance president.
Thirty-five walkers participated in the 5-kilometer walk around the battlefield.
All the money is used to help people suffering from chronic mental illnesses, she said.
Pauley said the group is expecting an additional donation from the Office of Consumer Advocacy on Monday.
This year's goal was to raise $5,000, but Pauley said she was pleased with the walk-a-thon.
Last year about 40 walkers raised approximately $2,300 for the Alliance, she said.
