Little league gets loan to complete improvements

September 14, 1999

The American Little League in Hagerstown will use a $40,000 interest-free loan from the City of Hagerstown to complete improvements to a baseball diamond at Fairgrounds Park.

The loan originally was intended to be used for improvements at Hager Park.

League officials at a City Council meeting on Tuesday said they would still use the Hager Park field for practices, and the field at the fairgrounds would be used for games.

No elected officials spoke Tuesday against the change in use of the loan.

City Clerk Gann Breichner said the council probably will not have to officially vote on the matter.
