Commissioners issue two proclamations

The Washington County Commissioners issued two proclamations Tuesday.

Sept. 12-18 was designated Disabled American Veterans "Forget Me Not" week. The group sells paper flowers and uses the money to provide services to disabled veterans.

Sept. 19-25 was proclaimed Lawsuit Abuse Awareness Week. Former Commissioner Linda Irvin-Craig accepted the proclamation for the national event intended to show the effects of frivolous lawsuits.

Housing Authority, Ethics Commission appointees named

The Washington County Commissioners voted to appoint Herbert Albert to the Washington County Housing Authority.

Albert will replace Paul Beck, who resigned.

The commissioners also voted to appoint Hancock Mayor Daniel Murphy to the Washington County Ethics Commission.
