Crumbs from the Cracker Barrel

As a youngster, Chambersburg area resident Don Werdebaugh donned a chef's hat and carried a bell as he walked from his uncle's restaurant at Pen Mar to the nearby Pen Mar Station. "I'd go down through the park ringing this dinner bell. They (rail passengers) would follow me right up to the restaurant. The two dinners they offered were fried chicken and ham. They (guests) would fill up, and then they would move out, and a second batch would come in!"
