He was a member of Potomac Lodge No. 100 AF&AM; Cumberland Scottish Rite; and Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, where he served as a member of the Country Club Board. He also was a member of Ali Ghan Desert Legion and was a past commander of that unit. He was a member of Cumberland Lodge No. 63 Order of the Elks; a charter member of La Vale Rescue Squad; and a member of United Commercial Travelers. He was a member of Cumberland Royal Order of Jesters.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia A. Spessard Witmer; four daughters, Sondra Giniewski of York, Pa., Donna Gervason of Winter Springs, Fla., Diane Witmer of La Vale and Laurie Hartung of Cumberland, Md.; two sons, Kenneth D. Witmer Jr. and Jerri L. Witmer, both of La Vale; three sisters, Dortha Kipe of Greencastle, Pa., Retha Keener of Hagerstown and Mildred Landis of Chambersburg, Pa.; three brothers, Richard Witmer and Clarence Witmer, both of Greencastle, Pa. and Raymond Witmer of Morgantown, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at La Vale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bernadette Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy. in La Vale. Potomac Lodge No. 100 will conduct Masonic services today at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation also will be Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Mildred M. Reid
BOONSBORO - Mildred May Reid, 89, of 8507 Mapleville Road, and formerly of 201 Della Lane, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.
Born Feb. 12, 1910, in Zittlestown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Webster Oscar and Annie Elizabeth Beakley Hutzell.
She was a homemaker.
She was a former member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.
She is survived by her husband, Alvey W. Reid, whom she married Nov. 28, 1929; a daughter, Virginia M. Morgan of Boonsboro; a son, Donald L. Reid of Boonsboro; a sister, Pauline Carmack of Frederick, Md.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Louis R. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
There will be no viewing.

Cora M. Weaver
Cora May Weaver, 88, of 828 Salem Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Nov. 28, 1910, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Martha Susan Baker Geist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Richard Weaver, in 1992.
She attended Hagerstown High School; and Columbia Business College.
She owned and operated Salem Way Confectionery. She also was employed at Hagerstown Shoe Company.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Fifty Year Club; the church choir singing as soloist for 31 years, Temple Builders Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Women. She also was a Sunday School teacher in the Primary Department for 12 years.
She was a member of Senior Citizens Bowling League in Waynesboro, Pa.
She is survived by a sister, Hazel I. Plank of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, William Richard Weaver Jr.; two sisters, Mary Ann Stotler and Jane E. Rudisill; and a brother, Roy B. Geist.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 712 Church St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton and the Rev. Susan Hallager will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
