$115,000 raised for new volunteer fire company

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A total of $115,000 was raised Monday for a new Citizens Volunteer Fire Co. in Charles Town.Royal Vendors, a soft-drink vending machine plant located in Bardane, gave $100,000 and United National Bank gave $10,000, according to campaign officials.

Also, Jim Davis, co-chairman of the campaign, gave $5,000.

The donations were announced during a campaign meeting at the Avanti Ristorante in Charles Town.

Citizens Volunteer Department officials say they need $2.5 million to replace their obsolete building on Washington Street.
