Ruth H. Burroughs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Ruth H. Burroughs, 91, of 1440 Haverhill Road South, formerly of 111 Windsor Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Hospice of Palm Beach County in West Palm Beach.

Born March 12, 1908, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Hudson.

Her husband, Paul F. Burroughs Sr., died in 1986.

She had been a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Burroughs of West Palm Beach; and a son, Paul F. Burroughs Jr., also of West Palm Beach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward W. Manalis will be celebrant. Entombment will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery. Deacon Richard Kunkle will officiate.

Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home in Hagerstown.

Gladys M. Miller

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gladys M. Miller, 90, of 122 Guilford Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at her home.

Born Jan. 2, 1909, in Fort Loudon, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Sellers and Hannah Mary Rosenberry McLaughlin.

Her husband, H. Landiss Miller, died in 1974.

She was a 1926 graduate of Lemasters (Pa.) High School and a 1928 graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College.

She taught school for 19 years in Pennsylvania and for 18 years in Baltimore-area schools.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Pa.

She was a member of Franklin County Teachers Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association and AARP.

She is survived by a daughter, Landa K. Miller of Chambersburg, and a brother, Hayward V. McLaughlin of Fort Loudon.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg. The Rev. Clyde DeShong will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 150 Norlo Drive, Fayetteville, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

E. Eugene Stanley

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - E. Eugene Stanley, 80, of Shepherdstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at his home.

Born March 3, 1919, in Vancleavesville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Daniel Worth and Mary Susan Powell Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Canby Stanley.

He was a 1937 graduate of Martinsburg (W.Va.) High School.

He was a farmer.

He attended First Baptist Church in Martinsburg.

He is survived by two daughters, Joyce S. Thornton of Shepherdstown and Harriet E. Hachen of Martinsburg; two sons, Charles W. Stanley and D. Michael Stanley, both of Shepherdstown; one sister, Christine Tabler of Martinsburg; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Stanley, David Stanley and Julian Stanley.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown. The Rev. Christopher D. Fowler will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

The family suggest memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Helen A. Schunemann

Helen Amanda Schunemann, 82, of 1180 Kenly Ave., died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 18, 1917, in Manchester, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Eugene and Mary Teresa Mahoney Lavigne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Schunemann.

She graduated from Manchester High School.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3874 in Washington, D.C., and was head of the women's auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Flippen of Sharpsburg; two sons, Dennis Schunemann of Ijamsville, Md., and Robert Schunemann of Bowie, Md.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Eldora Garrison.

Services will be today at 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George a Limmer will officiate. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md. The Rev. William Berry will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth A. Myers

WILLIAMSPORT - Ruth Anna Myers, 92, of Homewood Church Home, and formerly of 15444 Pennsylvania Ave. in State Line, Pa., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at the home.

Born Oct. 30, 1906, in Kemps Mill, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Annie Henneberger Brewer.

Her husband, Norman C. Myers, died in 1991.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in State Line and the Women's Guild.
