The company, nominated by office equipment manufacturers, suppliers and fellow dealers, was cited for its industry-leading sales and service performance.

Vincent Dellaposta is president of the company.

The content is determined by members of the WomensBizResources.com Editorial Board, each of whom specializes in a different aspect of business.

Plamondon Enterprises

FREDERICK, Md. - Plamondon Enterprises Inc., trading as Roy Rogers Family Restaurants, recently transferred Dana Ray, general manager, to the Eastgate location, which is one of the company's highest volume restaurants in Frederick.

Ray joined Plamondon Enterprises in 1986 with an extensive background in food service.

In 1989, she became the general manager at the store on Burhans Boulevard in Hagerstown.

American Express Tax and Business Services

American Express Tax and Business Services Inc. has announced that Certified Public Accountant Timothy Davis has been promoted to director in charge of the Hagerstown office.

Davis provides tax and business consulting services to clients in a variety of industries including real estate, construction, transportation, manufacturing, not-for-profit and local municipalities.

Total Fitness Specialists

Total Fitness Specialists Inc. has recognized Michele Sheppard and Lew Howard for recent accomplishments and certifications in the health and fitness industry.

Sheppard, a fitness professional since 1984 who has been with TFS Inc. at Gold's Gym since it opened in 1997, recently obtained an NDEITA's Personal Trainer Certification. She has instructed aerobic and yoga classes and currently helps instruct the Co-Ed Boot Camp Program.

Howard recently completed requirements for the Trainer/Instructor Certification Course through the National Gym Association, which included practical knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics and kinesiology, anatomy, nutrition , professional ethics and conduct, CPR and first aid. Howard is also the nutrition technician for TFS.

TalkRadio WRNR

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - TalkRadio WRNR's morning talk show, Eastern Panhandle Talk, has been honored by the West Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters Association for best radio public affairs programming in the state.

Hosted by Tom Tucker and produced by Pamela Green, the program airs weekday mornings from 8:40 to 10 a.m. Co-hosts include John Doyle, Liz Thompson, Tom Lowry, Larry Schultz, station news director Dick Strader and West Virginia Public Radio's Cecilia Mason.

The program features interviews and open phones for listeners to express their opinions.

Also, the station's sports play-by-play team, featuring Matt Miller, was voted No. 1 in West Virginia by the West Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters Association. Miller teams with Gregg Wachtel for high school basketball, Brian Mahoney for high school baseball and with Vic Holmes for high school football. Sportswriter Sheldon Shealer serves as analyst for bicycle racing, and Tom Tucker and Holmes team together for Shepherd Ram football games.

WRNR also placed second statewide for Best Radio Sports Operation.

 

RCI

Roxbury Correctional Institution has announced its employees of the month for August are Correctional Officers Mark Gonzalez, Granvil Ingram and Kenneth McDowell.

They are being recognized for handling an altercation in the dispensary area involving an inmate who refused medical treatment for a self-inflicted wound.

Because of the officer's actions, the inmate was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Ten new faculty members will be joining the teaching staff at Shepherd College this fall.

Andro Barnett of Dover, Del., has been appointed assistant professor of recreation and leisure studies.

K.B. Basseches of Washington, D.C., has been appointed assistant professor of art.

Robert Scott Beard of Washington, D.C., a visiting professor of music at Shepherd, has been appointed assistant professor of music.

Laura Bischoff of Urbana, Ill., has been appointed assistant professor of music history.

Daniel DePalma of Norwalk, Conn., has been appointed assistant professor of business administration.

Cornelia Lynne Hannah of Shaker Heights, Ohio, has been appointed assistant professor of education.

Shahadat Kowuser of Americus, Ga., has been appointed assistant professor of computer and information sciences.

Brenda Maddox-Dolan of Silver Spring, Md., has been appointed visiting assistant professor of education.

Scott Williamson of Lexington, Va., has been appointed visiting assistant professor of music.

David B. Wing of Socorro, N.M., has been appointed assistant professor of biology.

Staples Distribution Center

Larry Baldwin, a supervisor at the Staples Distribution Center in Hagerstown, was recently appointed to the Washington County Solid Waste Advisory Committee by the Washington County Commissioners.
