The Nyes

Arthur Edwin "Eddie" and Lou Jean Nye of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 11, 1999, at a reception and dinner at Chestnut Logs Restaurant in Waynesboro, Pa.

The event was hosted by their children and spouses, Kittylee and Ken Harbaugh and Barry and Johanna Nye. The couple's four grandchildren and approximately 60 friends and relatives attended the celebration. They were honored with a song written by their son for the occasion, "The Ballad of Eddie and Lou Jean."

The Nyes were married June 26, 1949, by the Rev. G.I. Rider at Grace E.U.B. Church in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Nye is a homemaker.

Mr. Nye retired after 43 years of service at M.P. Moller Inc.

The Kings

Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. King of Marlowe, W.Va., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 31, 1999, at a party given by their seven children.


It was organized by their only daughter, Sandi Hall, and six sons, Terry King, Jerry King, Mike King, Pat King, David King and Rick King. A granddaughter, Natasha Hall, organized the decorations. Their children's spouses, grandchildren and many friends joined in the celebration.

Carl and Ellen King were married May 29, 1949.

The Stouffers

Dennie and Vickie Stouffer of Boonsboro celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 11, 1999, at a surprise party hosted by their family at Mount Lena United Methodist Church.

The Stouffers were married July 6, 1974, at Mount Lena United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Stum.

Mrs. Stouffer is the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Routzahn. She is employed by State Farm Insurance in Frederick, Md.

Mr. Stouffer is the son of Walter Stouffer and the late Thelma Stouffer. He is employed by Statton Furniture Co. in Hagerstown.

They have one son, Kevin Stouffer.

The Snyders

Bob and Geri Snyder of Williamsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 3, 1999, at a surprise supper at Wacohu Grange Hall, Huyetts Crossroads.

The celebration was hosted by their daughter and her family.

Mr. and Mrs. Snyder were married July 2, 1949, by the Rev. G.S. Rider in Hagerstown.

The event was attended by 100 family members and friends. The couple has one son, Robert, of Sharpsburg, and a daughter, Dorothy Hawbaker of Williamsport. They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Snyder is a school bus contractor with the Board of Education and a homemaker. Mr. Snyder is a retiree of I.E. Dupont in Marlowe, W.Va., and a self-employed electrician.
