Williamsport man stabbed

WILLIAMSPORT - A Williamsport man was stabbed at the Day's Inn motel during a fight with another man Tuesday evening, according to Washington County Sheriff's Deputy David Izat.

Curtis Edward McCauley, 26, of Williamsport, was treated at Washington County Hospital and released, Izat said.

At around 9 p.m., McCauley went to the motel looking for his wife, who is employed there, Izat said.

He started arguing with Devon George Farquharson, 43, of Hagerstown, inside a motel room.

Police said McCauley was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors found at the motel.

The wound was about a half an inch deep, said Izat.

"It was a case of mistaken identity," that escalated into an assault, Izat said.

Farquharson was charged with first- and second-degree assault. He will have a bond hearing today.

McCauley was taken to Washington County Hospital by the Williamsport Ambulance Co.

Farquharson was employed by the motel to do renovations to the 310 E. Potomac St. building. He was staying at the motel while the work was being done, Izat said.
