A Hagerstown fire engine was involved in an accident while responding to a call late Friday afternoon, according to a Washington County dispatcher.

Hagerstown City Police responded to an accident involving an Engine One First Hagerstown Hose Company fire truck at 4:37 p.m. in front of the South Potomac Street station, the dispatcher said.

Hagerstown Police Officer Michael Moats was investigating the accident Friday evening, and was unavailable for comment.

Battalion Chief Randy Myers said Friday night he didn't want to comment as the incident was still under investigation.

The driver of the vehicle answered a Friday night call at the station, but refused to give his name or release any information.
