District 1 11-12 All Stars

Conococheague 6, Valley 1: Andy Taylor allowed four hits and struck out six while pitching a complete game. Phillip Jordan knocked in two runs with a double. Josh Daniels allowed four hits in five innings for Valley.

Frostburg 6, Clear Spring 0: Zach Leasure pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Frostburg in an elimination game. Adam Beeman homered, tripled and doubled, while Brian Casecamp had three hits for Frostburg.

West End 7, LaVale 3: John Breehl had eight strikeouts to lead West End. Chris Grove and Brian Shifflett had two hits each. Curt Jacavino had two hits for LaVale.

Washington Co. Girls Softball

Post 202 11, First United 6: Hannah Chambers and Beth Sterner combined for 11 strikeouts to lead Post 202. Amanda Bingaman and Jennifer Cook each had two hits for the winners. Lauren Reed struck out seven in a losing cause.

Post 202 18, Bowman 4: Heidi Moats homered, while Beth Sterner, Amanda Bingaman and Holly Turner each had two hits for Post 202. Lee Graff had two hits for Bowman.

Hub City/Pinesburg Softball

Moose 2462 25, Reps 3: K.C. Hutzell had three hits, including a home run, and Mike Wade had three hits for Moose.

J&W Mechanical 21, Timbrooks 14: Jeff Seilhamer had four hits, while Phil Fox, Brian Conrad, James Fann and Thornie Linn all had three hits for J&W Mechanical.

Firestone 9, Talley Metals 8: Todd Smith and Tim Wiley went 4-for-4, while Mike Leigh drove in the winning run for Firestone.

Freddie's Subs/Corner Pub 11, Osborne 5: Tod Mobley, Todd Stocks, Mike Socks and Jason Draper each had three hits for Freddie's. Slack Myers went 3-for-4 with a homer for Osborne.

Ollie's/Ernst 13, Dual Highway 12: Jim Fitz, Mike Weaver and Earl Rowland each had three hits to lead Ollie's/Ernst.

Blue Ridge Baseball

Hagerstown Braves 7, Greencastle Athletics 6: Mick Kerns hit a two-run homer to win the game for the Braves. Mike Martin hit a solo homer and finished with two hits, while Kerns also finished with two hits. Dan Cunningham and Kenny Moore each had two hits and Moore had two RBIs.

Physicals at James Buchanan

James Buchanan High School athletic director Dick Heckman has announced the following schedule for fall sports physical exams, to be held at the school:

  • Boys - Friday, Aug. 6, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Girls - Friday, Aug. 13, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
