Smithsburg to re-run ad for public works assistant

July 07, 1999

SMITHSBURG - The Smithsburg Town Council agreed Tuesday to re-advertise for a part-time public works assistant.

The original advertisement for the job brought little response, according to Betsy Martin, town secretary/treasurer.

The duties include maintenance work and assisting Bill Loughridge, public works director. Scheduling is flexible, but must total 20 hours a week, he said.

The position will pay $7 or $8 an hour, depending on experience.

Council rejected the sole applicant for the position because he was related to a town employee.
