John C. Sigler Jr.

Services for John C. "Herman" Sigler Jr., 54, of 241 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, who died Friday, July 2, 1999, will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Sharon L. Forbes will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lillie V. Butler

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Lillie V. Butler, 92, of 5277 Spruce Road, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at Caledonia Manor Nursing Home, Fayetteville.

Born Nov. 11, 1906, in Foreman, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes Parker Miller.

She retired in 1975 from the laundry department of South Mountain Restoration Center after 20 years.

She was a member of New Baltimore Church of God, South Mountain.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Butler, whom she married in 1938; five daughters, Mildred Shaffer of Pond Bank, Pa., Viola Miller of Palm Bay, Fla., Carrie Kauffman of South Mountain and Catherine Bakner, both of South Mountain, and Vera Bakner of Mont Alto, Pa.; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Mervin J. Shaffer and Kenneth W. Wagaman; three sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nellie L. Urda

Nellie Laurence Urda, 88, of 10835 Rosewood Drive, Hagerstown, and formerly of Baden, Pa., died Monday, July 5, 1999, at her home.

Born Aug. 23, 1910, in Midway, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Enoch and Margaret Brown Holland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Urda.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Miguel of Hagerstown, Ruth Gatehouse of Baden and Mary McMahon of Rochester, Pa.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Beaver Cemetery, Beaver, Pa.

The family requests omission of flowers. Memorial donations be made to American Heart Association, 322-324 E. Antietam St., Suite 306B, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Melvin J. Flickinger

QUINCY, Pa. - Melvin J. Flickinger, 90, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 358 Geiser Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, July 5, 1999, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Dec. 30, 1908, he was the son of the late John I. and Annie Kate Wentz Flickinger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Leppo Flickinger, in 1987. They were married in 1928.

He had been employed with a furniture manufacturer. He directed the Quincy Orphanage and Mercersburg American Legion bands. He was employed at Grossnickel Garage, Mercersburg, as a bookkeeper; and at Frey Stone and Coal Co. until his retirement in the late 1970s.

He was a member of Otterbein United Church of Christ, Waynesboro.

He was a member of Pennsylvania Band Masters Association.

He is survived by a daughter, Esther L. Snively of Waynesboro; a sister, Eva Hanson of New Oxford, Pa.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Timothy Dunkerton.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Michael Newman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, Pa.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Elizabeth K. Munson

IRVING, Texas - Elizabeth Knox Munson, 77, of Irving, and formerly of Hagerstown, Seminole, Fla., Crystal River, Fla., and Durant, Okla., died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at her home.

She was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Gettysburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger F. Munson Sr., in 1989.

She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Emmitsburg, Md.; and St. Joseph's Hospital and School of Nursing in Baltimore.

She was a volunteer at Baylor Medical Center in Irving. She was a registered nurse in Hagerstown, Seminole, Crystal River and Durant.

She is survived by six children, Elizabeth J. Johnson of Irving, Thomas A. Speakman of Denison, Texas, Rita Ann Shaffer of Hagerstown, Roger Frederick Munson Jr. of Williamsport, Rebecca Marie Mounts of Inverness, Fla., and Rose Mary Tesch of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, David Munson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Irving.
