Mary L. Russell

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mary Louise Russell, 69, of Willow Springs Farm Apartments, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town.

Born Dec. 16, 1929, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank Washington Bond and Nellie Mae Bell Bond Price.

She was formerly employed by Jefferson County Health Department in Bardane, W.Va.

She was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Russell Engle of Charles Town; and an aunt.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Charles Town Baptist Church, 203 E. Congress St., Charles Town. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Friends will be received at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ruth C. Price

Ruth Clara Price, 90, formerly of 901 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, where she resided.

Born July 29, 1908, in Foxville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Viola Wolf Smith.

Her husband, Owen C. Price, died in 1996.

She was owner of East End Tavern.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Smithsburg.

She was a former member of Ladies of the Elks Lodge 378.

She is survived by one niece, Violet Trumpower of Florida.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Miller; two sisters, Helen Gardner and Leah Hammaker; and one brother, Glenn Smith.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery in Smithsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742; or to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, 5 Public Square, Suite 307, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Marian V. Helmer

Marian Victoria Helmer, 81, of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 6, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nina Shipp.

Her husband, John W. Helmer Sr., died in 1994.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She also was a member of AARP.

She is survived by one son, Bill Helmer Jr. of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Mary Ellen Fowler of West Virginia; and two grandsons, Bill Helmer III and Adam Patrick Helmer, both of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Michael Helmer.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd.

Joseph R. Carter Sr.

SMITHSBURG - Joseph R. Carter Sr., 44, of Smithsburg, who died Monday, June 28, 1999, is survived by his companion of 15 years, Gloria R. Kelly of Smithsburg.

Mildred G. Shade

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mildred G. Shade, 83, a resident of Menno-Haven and formerly of Scotland Avenue, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Menno-Haven.

Born May 14, 1916, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late James William and Grace Susan Nary Ewan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Shade Jr., in 1984.

She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She was postmaster/telephone operator for Scotland School for Veterans Children in Scotland, Pa., retiring after 25 years of service.

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg.

She was a former member of Martha Custis Chapter No. 342 Order of the Eastern Star in Chambersburg.

She is survived by a son, James P. Howard of Chambersburg; two sisters, Marie McLaughlin of Chambersburg and Mary Ellen Martin of Colonial Heights, Va.; and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death by 14 sisters and brothers.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Saturday one hour before the services at the funeral home.

Daniel J. Androchek

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Daniel J. Androchek, 73, of Glen Street, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.

Born April 13, 1926, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Jacob and Anna Otremba Androchek.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Dee-Young Androchek, in 1979.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy.
