The Washington County Commissioners Tuesday approved a three-year property tax credit for the 28-acre land parcel where the new YMCA is to be built.
The 100 percent property tax break is for the 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 fiscal years. The fiscal year begins July 1.
The property tax credit for this fiscal year for the property on Eastern Boulevard is $7,830.90, according to the county resolution.
The YMCA receives state and county property tax credits at its current building, County Administrator Rodney Shoop said.
Construction on the new facility is scheduled to begin in early 2000, said James G. Pierne, co-chairman of the YMCA Capital Campaign. He requested the tax break on behalf of the YMCA.
