Crumbs from the Cracker Barrell

June 29, 1999

In 1926 the state of Maryland ranked second to New York in raspberry production in the United States. In that year Washington County growers raised three-quarters of the state's black and red raspberries and shipped 26,500 24-quart crates of berries to market. Many of the berries were shipped by rail from the Keedysville Railroad Station and the Rohrersville Station at Trego.
