Terry D. Pittsnogle

Terry D. Pittsnogle, 51, of Mitchell Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 10, 1947, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late William D. and Alma L. Western Pittsnogle.

He was employed for Spicher's Appliances, Hagerstown and Airborn Express.

He was a member of North American Rod and Gun Club, Hagerstown and Williamsport Redmen Lodge 84.

He is survived by one daughter, Angie Pittsnogle of Midway, Ga.; two sons, Jeffrey D. Pittsnogle of Boonsboro and Mark E. Pittsnogle of Hagerstown; five brothers, Donald Pittsnogle, Ronald Pittsnogle, William Pittsnogle, Mike Pittsnogle and his twin, Jerry Pittsnogle and one granddaughter.

Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.

Mary A. Thumma

Mary A. Thumma, 85, of 17600 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center.

Born May 29, 1914, in Fiddlersburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Albert and Emma Elizabeth Hartman Williams.

She retired in 1975 from Hagerstown Shoe Company after 35 years of service.

She attended Shiloh United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Peggy I. Reid of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Traci L. Hassler of Hagerstown; one grandson, Ronald L. Reid of Big Pool; two grandsons, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Mae Grove and Helen Johnson and four brothers, Richard Williams, Albert Williams, Fred Williams and Bud Williams.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Chalmere M. Cordell

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Chalmere M. "Chic" Cordell, 92, of 614 Park Street, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at his home.

Born Jan. 8, 1907, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Levi and Bessie Valance Cordell.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mary E. Geesaman Cordell, who died in 1998.

He was a 1926 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

He was employed with Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro for 46 years, retiring in 1968, as a supervisor in the Chaser Department. He also owned and operated a sign painting business.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rouzerville, Pa., where he organized and directed the senior and junior church choirs. He also served as Sunday School superintendent, served on the church council and taught Sunday School for a number of years.

He was a member of A.T.H. & L. Fire Company, Waynesboro.

He had his own dance band in the late 20's and early 30's called "Moonlight Serenaders" and played for a dance band in Baltimore by the name of "Ted Zamecki and His Dance Band."

He is survived by one daughter, Marilyn C. Dewease of Waynesboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Norman L. Cordell.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville. The Rev. Steven Amundson will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon in Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Church, P.O. Box 240, Rouzerville, PA 17250.

Delmar V. Brown

Delmar Verdeen Brown, 81, of 948 View St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 1, 1917, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Roy B. and Clara Hawk Brown.

He was a 1936 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He was employed with Fairchild Aircraft, retiring in 1984 after 46 years of service.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378, Moose Lodge 212, Boy Scout Troop 2 and a life member of North American Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Bowers Brown and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy W. Brown, Paul Brown and Kenneth Brown.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Carroll L. Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Freddie Halloway

MILLVILLE, W.Va. - Freddie Halloway, 52, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born July 25, 1947, in Norton, Va., he was the son of the late Fred and Gladys Bell Halloway.
