Martha L. Beard

MAUGANSVILLE - Martha Lucille Beard, 82, of Charlotte's Home, Village Mill Avenue, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 17, 1917, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late John Feidt and Lucy May Frush Board.

She was a graduate of Clear Spring High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Clear Spring.

She is survived by a son, Jerry A. Beard of Hagerstown; a sister, Mary E. Beard of Williamsport; two granddaughters, Audrey Morton of Columbia, Md. and Stephanie Mankouski of Chambersburg, Pa.; and a grandson, Allen Beard of Baton Rouge, La.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. C. Andrew Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.

Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open today after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 198, Clear Spring, MD 21722.

Herbert G. Burns

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Herbert G. "Guy" Burns, 70, of Bunker Hill, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at his home.

Born Jan. 18, 1929, in Greenbrier County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Kelcie Burns and Amy Marie Orndorff Burns Hill.

He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Fay E. McClung Burns; two sons, Daniel Guy Burns and Kelcie Kevin Burns, both of Bunker Hill; a brother, Thomas Jefferson Burns of Danville, W.Va; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Edith McClung; and a brother, Kelcie Harold Burns.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Arrangements are by Brown Memorial Home, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Gladys G. Duffield

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gladys Glazer Duffield, 99, of 1425 Philadelphia Ave. and formerly of Welsh Run, Pa., died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.

Born Sept. 10, 1899, near Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Georgeanna Morton Glazer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Angle Duffield, in 1967.

She was a graduate of the former Mercersburg High School and the former Shippensburg Normal State Teachers College, now Shippensburg University.

She taught school at Mount Pleasant and Shimpstown in Montgomery Township, Pa., at Pinefield, Calif. and at South Antrim Elementary Schools in Antrim Township, Pa.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Mercersburg, and attended the Presbyterian Church of Greencastle, Pa., where her children were members.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanne D. O'Brien of Huntsville, Ala.; two sons, Ned G. Duffield of Riverside, Calif. and Cedric A. Duffield of Welsh Run, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Robert M. Duffield; a sister; and a brother.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Greencastle. The Rev. Michael K. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, she requested memorial donations be made to Camp Joy-El, 3741 Joy-El Drive, Greencastle, PA 17225.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., Mercersburg.

Warren A. Sauble Sr.

GOLDSBORO, Md. - Warren Allen Sauble Sr., 56, of Goldsboro, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Memorial Hospital of Easton in Easton, Md.

Born Sept. 14, 1942, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Ernest Michael and Elenora Schoff Sauble.

He was employed by Box USA of Baltimore as the shipping supervisor.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Margaret "Peggy" L. Sauble; a daughter, Kimberle Ann Sauble of Goldsboro; two sons, Warren A. Sauble Jr. of Hagerstown and Bryan Lee Sauble of Waldorf, Md.; five sisters, Jane Hepner of Mount Jackson, W.Va., Marie Roberg, Elenora Sauble, Elizabeth Walton and Madeline Meushaw, all of Baltimore; four brothers, Edward Sauble of Hagerstown, James Sauble and Henry Sauble, both of Baltimore and Willard Sauble of Revera Beach, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md. Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.

Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Hattie M. Pheil

Hattie Marie Pheil, 102, formerly of 289 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home.

Born July 16, 1896, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Abram and Frances Criswell Ensminger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pheil.

She was employed by Troy Laundry in Hagerstown.

She was of the Methodist faith.
