The Cardaros

Tom and Polly Cardaro of in Charles Town, W.Va., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 10, 1999, at a surprise party at Avanti Ristorante in Charles Town

The celebration was hosted by their children, Tino and Linda Sciuto, Tom and Sue Cardaro and their six grandchildren. The event was attended by more than 200 people.

Mrs. Brown is the daughter of the late Lloyd and Gertie Simons. She worked for the government in the Treasury Department and is a homemaker.


Mr. Brown is the son of the late Carl and Cindy Cardaro. He was a tractor-trailer driver for Ryder/PIE until he retired in 1985.

The Dunkles

Wayd E. and Shirley M. Dunkle of Greencastle, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, May 22, 1999, at a reception and dinner at Otterbein United Brethren Church in Greencastle.

The event was hosted by their three sons and their wives, Robert and Saundra Dunkle of Greencastle, Jeffrey and Ruth Dunkle of Melbourne, Fla., and Craig and Heidi Dunkle of Greencastle.

The Dunkles were married May 21, 1949, at the parsonage of First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Winchester, Va. The Rev. Carl W. Hiser officiated.

The couple's daughters-in-law and a granddaughter entertained with love songs and tributes were presented by family members and friends.

The Browns

Gerald James and Dorothy Jean (Prayor) Brown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 19, 1999.

They were honored Tuesday, June 15, with a card shower and a dinner at Mountain Gate Restaurant given by Golden Gleamers Sunday School class of Germantown Church of God in Cascade. They also were honored at a private dinner June 19 given by their immediate family at Family Time Restaurant in Hagerstown.

The Browns were married June 19, 1949, in a religious ceremony at Washington Square Methodist Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Charles Lefew.

The Browns have three children, Linda J. Keller of Wilmington, N.C., Gerald J. Brown Jr. of Hagerstown and Eddie A. Brown of Smithsburg. They also have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brown is retired from Pangborn Corp.
