Army Pvt. Ronald C. Cotton, Jr., son of Kimberly J. Cline of Greencastle, Pa., has arrived at Fort Knox to complete eight weeks of basic combat training. Cotton is a 1998 graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School, Greencastle.




Army Reserve Pvt. Ronald E. Setters, son of Mary L. Wivell of Hagerstown, has arrived at Fort Knox to complete eight weeks of basic combat training.




Air Force Staff Sgt. Scott M. Brookens, son of F. Michael Brookens of Chambersburg, Pa., is one of 250 troops assigned to Little Rock Air Force Base. The troops, eight cargo aircraft, and equipment are scheduled for a 60-day stay at Ramstein Air Base before returning to Little Rock Air Force Base. Brookens is a 1986 graduate of Bedford High School, Pa.




Air Force Senior Airman Brian M. Barber, son of Robert M. Barber of Friendship, Md. and Margaret I. Ranchenberg of Emmitsburg, Md., has been decorated with the Air Force Aerial Achievement Medal. Barber is a 1993 graduate of Southern Senior High School in Harwood, Md.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Dustin W. Winkler, son of Henry Sprouse of Martinsburg, W.Va. has graduated from the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration apprentice course at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Winkler is a 1998 graduate of Martinsburg High School.




Air Force Airman Christopher L. Chaney, son of Shirley A. and Tommy K. Chaney of Hagerstown, Md. has graduated from the C-130 aircraft maintenance apprentice mission ready technician (MRT) course at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Chaney is a 1998 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.




Marine Corps Lt. Col. Joseph L. Osterman, son of Joseph V. Osterman and Dorothy M. Osterman of Charles Town, W.Va. has been selected to attend the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa. The 12-month curriculum prepares officers of all services to serve in top-level command and staff positions with the U.S. armed forces throughout the world. Osterman is a 1978 graduate of Southern Senior High School in Harwood, Md. and a 1982 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. He earned a master's degree in 1996 from the Naval War College in Newport, R.I.




Navy Capt. Robert C. Barnes, son of Louise C. Barnes of California has been selected to attend the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa. The 12-month curriculum prepares officers of all services to serve in top-level command and staff positions with the U.S. armed forces throughout the world. Barnes received a bachelor's degree in 1973 from U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. and earned a master's degree in 1998 from the University of Maryland at College Park.
