You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"Does anyone know if they are having the July 4th yard sales on Longmeadow Road this year? If you do, will you please reply to Mail Call."

"Everyone is concerned about the city police. Well the state police, sheriff's department and the city police have been warned of two vehicles in Hagerstown, close to the Square. They know where they are, in fact the city let them get by three times. If they have an accident and someone gets killed, who is going to pay? The tags on these cars are expired and they have no insurance. They have known since February of this year. If it would be one of us, we would be in jail. They are both still driving their vehicles."

"I am very sad today. I live in Boonsboro and I heard that John D. Reese, owner and operator years and years ago of Boonsboro Produce, passed away. He was a wonderful humanitarian. He looked after the needy. If he saw that they didn't have groceries, he would go to their home with groceries. If they came to Boonsboro Produce and didn't have any money, he would make sure that they went home with groceries. He looked after the whole community. Everyone in Boonsboro really knows of John D. Reese. We will never forget him and God surely will bless him."

"I am not a Christian person, but I have read the Bible and what I would like to know is how can these people go to church seven days a week or every Sunday and then go to the polls and pull a lever for somebody who believes in abortion or partial birth abortion? I would like these Christian people to explain their views on that. I can't understand where their philosophy comes for the way they vote."

"I was reading in Mail Call on Monday and I saw where somebody put in there about the City Park and the charging of a fee to keep the gospel bands going. I was wondering if the city of Hagerstown is really charging a fee of $100 or what is the fee or is someone playing of their own free will?"

"Yes, we can rebuild Yugoslavia, as long as the Serbs rebuild Kosovo."

"I am calling because I heard on the news this morning about a new stadium. Why doesn't somebody get a life. We don't need a new stadium. The one we have now is fine enough. Somebody get a life and dry up."

"I am calling about the new stadium, why don't you just can it?"

"Referring to this last royal wedding, don't you think they could have kept Diana out of it entirely? With all due respects to Diana, this was somebody else's wedding and we didn't need a whole big history on Diana."

"I just like to know why people would insist upon parking along Virginia Aveune in front of City Park after they put such nice parking lots in the back of the park? I don't quite understand that and I was wondering if anyone can answer my question?"

"I want to thank everybody who flashed their lights at me at the little town of Tilghmanton last week. It was a 40 mile zone there and I was probably running about 75 or 80 and I probably would have gotten burned good. There was a Maryland State Trooper sitting there with a radar and they saved me a huge fine. So, please keep flashing them, I can't afford to pay money like that, I am always in a hurry to get places, so keep flashing those lights whenever you see a police officer with a radar."

"It is a shame that the islands that were recently bricked, out on Cleveland and Dual Highway didn't have flowers planted in them instead of the disgusting weeds, which were out last week for all the guests in Hagerstown coming to see the Miss Maryland Pageant. The best thing they can do there is plant grass and keep it mowed, it will never work the way that they have it now."

"President Clinton is over in Kosovo trying to get people to get rid of Milosovic. I have an idea, why doesn't Milosovic come over here and suggest that we get rid of Clinton? Then we can get rid of two good-for-nothing's at the same time."

"I want to tell my granddaughter Audrey Beatty how proud I am of her for passing into the fifth grade and making such good marks this year. Keep up the good work sweetheart. I love you, Grandma Smith."

"Let me get this straight now, silicone breast implants don't cause cancer after they awarded $7 billion in money to victims of implants. Could it be that cigarette smoke doesn't cause lung cancer either? Think about that."
