A 22-year-old Hagerstown man charged in a January assault has been charged with a June 2 armed robbery, according to Hagerstown City Police.

Alfarad Aquil Evans, of 138 E. Franklin St., Apt. 2, was being held in the Washington County Detention Center Friday on $127,500 bond.

The robbery occurred at 2 a.m. at Henry and Murph avenues, police said.

The victim told police that a man pulled a gun on him, grabbed him and told him to give him his money. After the victim gave him $100, the robber hit him in the head with the gun, court records said.

The robber then fled the scene, court records said.

The victim was taken to Washington County Hospital by friends and treated for a head wound, court records said.

The Jan. 31 incident occurred in the 200 block of Jonathan Street shortly after the victim's girlfriend was seen dancing with another man at a tavern in the first block of Jonathan Street, court records said.

Outside on the street, the victim was stabbed in the back by a person he knew only as "IC." The knife was still sticking out of his back when the victim showed up at a neighbor's house on West Bethel Street, court records said.

On Feb. 3, Evans was contacted about the incident by Officer Shawn Schultz, questioned and charged with second-degree assault, court records said.
