Baltimore trucker killed in accident

June 09, 1999

FREDERICK, Md. - A Baltimore trucker died late Tuesday when his rig overturned after it collided with another truck just east of the eastbound South Mountain rest area on Interstate 70.

Franklin Bradshaw, 51, was hauling paper products in the middle lane at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday when a truck in front of him veered into the slow lane in an attempt to exit into the rest area, Maryland State Police in Frederick said Wednesday.

Bradshaw's truck hit the rear of the other rig and overturned, trapping Bradshaw in the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other trucker, Roy Grant, 41, of Smithfield, Ohio, was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and released, police said.
