Monday's roundup - S. Fulton girls, Chambersburg boys advance

ROCKWAY, Pa. - Michelle Golden lived up to her last name in leading Southern Fulton in the first round of the PIAA Class A state playoffs on Monday.

Golden was the winning pitcher, striking out seven without issuing a walk, and was 3-for-3 with two triples, a double and five RBIs to lead the Indians to a 12-0 win over Smithport in the Indians' first playoff victory since 1983.

Heather Smart was 4-for-4, with three runs, and stole two bases for the Indians. Melody Smart was 2-for-3 and had three RBIs. Trish Douglas, Missy Mellott, Stephanie Mellott, and Jodi Appel all had two hits.


Chambersburg 7, Spring Ford 0

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Winning pitcher Aaron Edwards pitched a three-hitter, struck out three and walked two as Chambersburg shut out Spring Ford in the first round of the Pennsylvania Class AAAA state playoffs.


The Trojans (24-2) scored six of their seven runs in the first inning, including a three-run home run by Adam Witter.


Federal Little League

Rotary 11, Alsatia 6: Collin McWilliams led Rotary with two hits. Cory Garver and Matt Mulieri each had three hits for Alsatia.

West End Little League

Stags 11, VFW 6: D.J. Lucas and David Repp each had two hits and a home run for the Stags. Kent Worthington also had two hits. Tyler Shifler had 11 strikeouts for VFW while Corey Bricker and Tyler Duffy with two hits each.

West End Minor League

Western Enterprise 13, Red's Plumbing 8: Dwayne Weaver led Western Enterprise with three hits. Danny Lamp and Tyler Whittaker each had two hits. Mike Shoop had two hits for the Reds.

Maugansville Little League

Burkholders 6, Maugansville Oil 5: Andy Wise and Thomas Garrett combined to scatter five hits for Burkholders. Hamilton Stamper had two triples and the game-winning run, while Garrett had two hits. Tyler Braithwaite had two hits for Maugansville.

National Little League

Funkstown 17, AMVETS 16: Lauren Morton had five hits to lead Funkstown. Chris Loudin added four hits while Justin Reese and James Jordan had two hits each. Mark Crabill had four hits and Victoria Kiff had two hits for AMVETS.

Elks 25, Pangborn 12: Sean Marriner, Alan Platou, and Jeremy Duff had three hits each for the Elks. Michael Hockensmith had two hits. Brady Barr had three hits for Pangborn while teammate Rodney Loudin had two hits.

AMVETS 14, Pangborn 2: Winning pitcher Jeremy McAfee pitched a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts. McAfee also had four hits. AJ Bandeff and Marcellus Sumlin each had two hits for AMVETS. Brady Barr had two hits for Pangborn.

AMVETS 28, Funkstown 11: Marcellus Sumlin and Roo Offenbacker had four hits for AMVETS. Offenbacker also had a home run. A.J. Bandeff had four hits, including a home run, with seven RBIs. Jeremy McAfee had five hits, including a home run. Scott Stevens had three hits while Zack Gleim had two hits. For Funkstown, Chad Bikle and Jason Sutherland had three hits, J.C. Walling and Stevie Munson each had two hits.

American Little League

FOP 3, Goodwill 2: B.J. Soto and Jeremiah Twigg combined on a four-hitter with seven strikeouts for FOP. Twigg hit a home run. James Price had two hits for Goodwill.

VFW 15, Funkstown Legion 3: Leroy Dotson fired a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and had two hits, including a home run to lead VFW. Seth Gladhill and Matt Smith added two hits.

Sharpsburg Little League

ATB 9, Lions Club 8: Nick Lupo and Kevin Sandell had two hits each to lead ATB. Billy Cornell had two hits for the Lions.

Smithsburg Little Sluggers

Scott's Speed Shop 13, S & S Drywall 1: Theo Nehemias led Scott's with three hits, including a triple. Sam Yonker and Justin Hott had two hits.

Halfway Little League

Valley Storage Bins 19, Gibney's 9: David Warrenfeltz, Marcus Scott, Dustin Stottlemyer, Wickey Younger, and Bryson Cordelli all had two hits for Valley.

Valley Little League

Rocky's 18, Chewsville 12: Kevin Power led Rocky's with three hits. David McSherry and Ryan Lippella each had two hits. David Good and Zach Lloyd had two hits each for Chewsville.

Maugansville Junior League

Penn Avenue Meats 18, Spicher's Appliances 1: Brian Lantz went 4-for-4 and scored three runs to lead Penn Avenue. Ryne Garver, Casey Constable and Chris Pilch had two hits each.

Andy TaylorConococheague Little League

Redmen 9, Lions 3: Josh Bowers pitched a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts to get the win for Redmen. Andy Taylor added two hits, including a grand slam. Kenny Singhas had two hits to lead the Lions.

FOP 14, Eagles 7: Eddie Martin had two hits and struck out seven in relief for FOP. Charlie Carpenter and Jared Timmons added two hits, including a home run each. T.J. Bowser had three hits and Mike Campbell and Jeff Decker had two hits each. Decker had two RBIs.
