CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police said a St. Thomas, Pa., man was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital Monday after the bicycle he was riding collided with a Chambersburg Fire Department truck.

Daniel R. Fleming, 55, address unavailable, was listed in serious condition Tuesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Police said Fleming was riding west on Lincoln Way East near the North Second Street intersection when the accident occurred at 1:49 p.m. The report said the preliminary investigation showed that the fire truck, driven by Christopher Brown, 33, of 261 N. Fourth St., was westbound and made a right turn onto North Second Street.

Fleming struck the passenger side of the truck and became trapped underneath, police said.

Emergency Services Chief Allen W. Baldwin said the engine was not on a call but was returning to the headquarters station from an errand.

The incident is still under investigation by the borough police department's Major Accident Investigation Team, the police report said.

SCOTLAND, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was charged with making terroristic threats after an incident Sunday at the Scotland Ballfield Pavilion in Greene Township.

Pennsylvania State Police said James Hooks, 48, address unavailable, was also charged with carrying a prohibited offensive weapon, simple assault and a firearms violation. He was arraigned before District Justice David Hawbaker and jailed in Franklin County Prison on $35,000 bond.

According to police, the incident happened at 5:25 p.m. at the park on Scotland Road. A man threatened to kill Kelly Winters, 28, and Charles Dinish, 18, both of Chambersburg.

The report said the man displayed a handgun and tried to hit Dinish's car with his own. When police encountered the man, the report said he was carrying a pair of nun-chaku, a martial arts weapon.
