Couple injured in bike crash

FREDERICK, Md. - A married couple was flown to Washington County Hospital on Friday night after the motorcycle they were riding crashed in a ditch and landed on top of them, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Department.

The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near 8437 Rocky Springs Road south of Indian Springs Road, deputies said.

No further information was available at presstime.

Woman injured in accident

HANCOCK - A woman was being treated at Washington County Hospital on Friday night after being in an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle, officials said.

Her condition had not been assessed, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Two women were riding the vehicle around 12:30 p.m. on Exline Road west of Hancock when the accident occurred, said Hancock Fire Co. Chief Ernie Truax.


The woman who was flown to the hospital had a leg injury, Truax said. Her identity was unavailable at presstime.

Man charged with assault

CLEAR SPRING - A Big Pool man was charged with assault Friday afternoon, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Brian Miller, 25, the clerk at the Clear Spring Amoco station, was assaulted by a man who entered the station around 1 p.m., deputies said.

The man knocked over food displays and upset the cash register and the computer operating the gas pumps, deputies said.

The man fled the scene, but later called police to say he had been assaulted, deputies said. The man was arrested at 1:24 p.m. at a relative's home in Clear Spring, deputies said.

Miller was treated at the scene by fire and rescue officials, deputies said.

Eric William McCusker, 22, of 11647 Ernstsville Road, was charged with second-degree assault and destruction of property, deputies said. He was released on his own recognizance.

Man charged in accident

MYERSVILLE, Md. - A Myersville man was charged with failing to yield the right of way to another vehicle on Friday morning after a collision involving a motorcycle, according to Maryland State Police.

Richard Flook, 48, of Frederick, Md., was treated and released from Frederick Memorial Hospital on Friday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Flook was driving a 1991 Harley Davidson Sportster westbound on U.S. 40 at 7:05 a.m. when the driver of a 1984 Chevrolet Blazer on Church Hill Road tried to cross U.S. 40, police said.

The driver of the Blazer, Phillip A. Paulus, 18, of Myersville, was charged, police said.
